Presley and I have been out and about during spring break since we can remember. Here is a list of the top five places to go over spring break:
- Florida
Florida is the BEST place to spend spring break. Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida, and along with that, you can access a beach by driving a little over an hour. Orlando is home to not only beaches, but a variety of water parks such as Aquatica. Although these are expensive options, it’s the perfect way to spend your vacation in the sun while also cooling off. Apart from theme parks, there are plenty of nature trails as well as cheaper boat rides/tours for a more leisure trip.
For a packing list, I would bring lots of tank tops, shorts/skirts, sunscreen, sunglasses, flip flops, and of course an assortment of bathing suits. We would also recommend bringing sundresses for the days you want something more flowy and comfortable, especially for any nights where you go out to dinner, or go to the beach. You could even use a loose fitted sundress as a cover-up.
- Hilton Head Beach
Another good travel place for spreak (spring break) is Hilton Head Beach, South Carolina. The sand is hot, and the water is cool. There are plenty of places to shop for trinkets and get ice cream at.
For the perfect packing guide, I would be sure to bring at least two swim suits, and enough pairs of shorts and shirts for each day you are there. Since it is a beach, I would recommend bringing at least one cardigan like cover up, because the wind from the ocean can be chilly in the evenings. Also bring one fancier outfit to wear for a nice dinner, as there are various nice restaurants such as Coast.
- New York City
If you are more into a city vibe, New York City is the place to go. It is also just a train ride away from Lynchburg. With every stop and restaurant at your fingertips, New York City is bound to have something for you. The night life is energetic and bustling with people. This is a great chance to meet others and make memories that will last a lifetime. Famous landmarks like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty add interest, especially because tickets for walking inside Lady Liberty are priced at just $25. There are so many cool photo opportunities in this city, I mean it’s the “concrete jungle where dreams are made of.”
For a packing list, I would recommend sturdy walking shoes, and plenty of shorts/skirts and loose fitted tops. New York is often not only hot, but humid as we move into the warmer months, and you want to make sure you’re comfortable. Additionally, it’s nice to have a water bottle with a handle, sunglasses, and a cross body bag to make sure all of your belongings are safe while walking around.
- North Carolina
If you want something more serene, Asheville, North Carolina is the place to be. The mountains are beautiful and a quiet place to camp out, hike, and embrace the outdoors. There is a beautiful downtown area that includes a variety of restaurants, shops, and even arcades. Close to this, there are art museums, nature centers and parks, as well as waterfalls. These hikes are peaceful and great for photos. Asheville provides a great contrast between city life and a rural vibe. You can still have a great time doing many activities without having to spend a big buck.
For this packing list, I would recommend packing shoes that you can hike in and/or get dirty, tank tops, shorts/skirts, and definitely bug spray and camping supplies if that’s something you’d be interested in.
- Italy
For another beautiful, yet pricey idea, Italy is the perfect place to shop and explore. You can venture to the separate country, San Marino, or see famous cities like Florence or Venice. In Italy, you can spend your time touring ancient ruins packed with stories from history, or you can have more of a chill night in your hotel with a delicious, authentic slice of pizza. There are so many things to do in Italy, and depending on what city you’re in, there might be more shops, or more landmarks. Either way, start making an itinerary; you’re guaranteed to have a blast while making memories that last a lifetime.
The perfect packing list would be a lot of dresses, skirts, and nice tops. People like to dress nicer on a daily basis in Italy, and it is a good idea to match that same vibe. In some areas, they put emphasis on modesty, especially if you’re planning on visiting any temples and/or religious grounds. Making sure that you have appropriate outfits while still paying attention to staying cool is important. A flowy dress just below the knees is perfect, and won’t take up much space in your suitcase. Additionally, pack nice walking shoes as well as a pair of nice shoes for a fancy dinner. A cross-body bag worn on the front of you is also a good idea to keep your personal items safe.
We hope you take these suggestions with you on your trip this spring break, and have the most fun under the sun!
