“Regretting You” came out to movie theaters Oct. 24. Based on the book written by Colleen Hoover, it stars Mckenna Grace, Allison Williams, Mason Thames, and Dave Franco. The movie’s main themes of the story are betrayal, love, and family, and throughout the story the characters learn about family secrets, how to grow together, and they both discover love.
The story follows Morgan Grant and her daughter Clara as they deal with the recent death of Jenny (Morgan sister’s) and Chris (Morgan’s husband). After investigating the death, Morgan and Jonah (Jenny’s boyfriend) find out that Jenny and Chris were having an affair. Crushed by the news, Morgan decides to totally renovate her house and Jonah decides to pursue an old spark he felt for Morgan.
While this is happening, Clara meets Miller and there is instantly a spark. Clara and Miller start to date, but Clara never mentions it to her mom. So of course it’s a surprise when Morgan walks in on Miller and Clara in her room. This sparks an interesting birthday dinner for Clara, which Miller walks out on.
Morgan and Clara finally sit down after the dinner and talk about everything. Morgan tells Clara about the affair and they make up. Clara later texts Miller and they make up. Meanwhile, Jonah and Morgan finally confess their love for each other and get together. They all live happily ever after.
The acting in this film was a little questionable for some of the actors. Most of these actors have been in previous movies. Starting with Mckenna Grace who played Clara Grant in this film. Grace has been acting for 13 years, her debut year being 2012 when she was in “Crash & Bernstein” on Disney XD. Her acting performance in “Regretting You” was one of the best. She showed great emotion and portrayed her performance of Clara very passionately and convincingly.
Mason Thames was the next actor who starred in this movie. Playing Clara’s love interest, Miller Adams, Thames had a very nice performance. He had a very convincing performance of the most popular boy in school, but also played a great softie on the inside. Thames has been in the acting industry for about 7 years. His first major role was in the film “The Black Phone” where he played Finney Blake. His performance in “Regretting You” was one of the best in the movie. His emotion showed very little, but when he did it shined through and was very moving and impressive.
Allison Williams starred as Morgan Grant in “Regretting You”. Williams has been an actress for nearly 2 decades, as to her career starting in 2004. Williams made her debut in the NBC series “American Dreams” where she played the character Deborah. Her performance in “Regretting You” was the best. From the way she showed her emotions to her deliverance of the character herself, it was amazing. Her emotion portrayal moved you so much and made you really feel the emotion she was feeling.
Dave Franco starred as Jonah Sullivan in “Regretting You”. Franco has been an actor since 2006, his first role being in the CW TV drama “7th Heaven”. He played the character of Benjamin Brainsworth. Franco’s performance in “Regretting You” was not the best. He never seemed fully into his character and more like he was playing a role rather than being that character, and it really showed through. His emotion portrayal was not very moving and didn’t really make you feel his emotion. It was not the worst acting ever, but it definitely wasn’t the best.
Overall “Regretting You” is a great movie. While some of the acting needs help, the actors portray their characters well and the plot is intriguing. You definitely won’t regret watching “Regretting You”.
