This article contains spoilers proceed with caution. In 2019, the hit book series “A Good Girls Guide to Murder”writen by Holly Jackson came out. The book follows a girl named Pip Fitz Amobi. For her high school senior project she tries to solve the Andie Bell case, a local murder case. The case states that Andie Bell’s boyfriend Sal Singh killed his girlfriend then killed himself when the sadness got too big.
Along the way Pip gets death threats and messages from unknown numbers. She interviews people related to Sal and Andie and their friends. While trying to solve the murder case Pip has Sal’s brother Ravi along for the help. The two of them follow lead after lead until Pip discovers at her best friend Cara’s house that their family printer printed out the death threat notes that she is receiving. She followed the clues and discovered that her friend’s dad Elliot Ward was part of the murder. Elliot told Pip in an interview that he pushed Andie and he thought he killed her so he killed Sal to cover it up. Pip was still confused as to how Andie died if Elliot did not do it. She asked Becca Bell, Andie’s sister if she had any information and found out she did it after a fight she had. While on the way to go show Pip Andie’s body, Becca drugs her, almost killing her. Pip then decides that maybe hunting muder cases is not the safest thing to do.
The book has since come out the three more books continuing Pip’s adventures. The last book is a novella which is shorter than the rest of the books and it is set before the rest of the stories. Each book is about a different muder case that Pip tries to solve.
The book also came out with a show in 2024. You can now watch the first season on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The show and book takes place in a small town named Faireview in England. In the show Pip is played by Emma Myers. Pip’s boyfriend Ravi is played by Zain Iqbal. Andie Bell and Sal Singh are played by India Lillie Davies and Rahul Pattni. The show is coming out with a second season,releasing this year. Holly Jackson, the author of the book, helped write the script for the show so it closely represents her book. The show is very similar to the books and the sho
w really shows the characters’ personalities.
I really enjoyed all of the books in the series. Each book was a little different than the last. Every chapter has a twist that adds up to the ending. I would recommend this book if you like murder mystery books and love characters who you can connect with. This book is everything you think of when you say murder mystery. If you are looking for a book recommendation this one is for you.
