Iconic fashion, fabulous music, and jaw-dropping performances, the 68th Grammy’s have it all. The only thing that could be missing would be a plane and a dove… oh wait, that’s there too. On Feb. 1 artists such as Lady Gaga, Rosé, Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Tyler, the Creator performed on a memorable night, wowing the audience in their own way. Certain artists’ Red Carpet outfits matched their performance on another level and allowed for the audience to make a connection, but the two I will be focusing on are Tyler, the Creator and Sabrina Carpenter.
Starting off strong, Sabrina Carpenter wore a off-white sequined dress with a floral upper body paired with a polka dotted ruffle lower half and a glistening translucent shoulder shawl. During

her iconic performance of “Manchild”, she wore her own version of a pilot’s uniform paired with knee high boots.
It is true that last year she matched her Red Carpet blue dress with her blue body suit, but this year’s connection is different. Not only did she go with a simpler look for the Red Carpet, but according to Vogue, her outfit inspired brides across the Nation. And one may wonder, “Hannah, what’s the connection?” I’ll tell you, her iconic bodysuit had been changed to something that still represents her confident self, but now also represents the music, much like her dress. Both are simple, but beautiful.
Junior Braelyn Polly expresses her thoughts on the dress and the connection she made.
“Her dress was shiny like the crab from “Moana”. She looked like a tear drop,” said Polly.
Now to her actual performance. Her most popular song “Manchild” was heard almost everywhere and one could expect nothing less than to be in awe of her performance. The problem? She faced backlash for having a live dove on stage. Unless the dove was harmed or faced mistreatment, I don’t see a huge problem with it. What we could focus on was the about life size plane and multiple moving parts on the stage. Carpenter was surrounded by background dancers dressed as stereotypical men. An impactful song to go with an impactful performance.
Senior Noah Alexander gives his opinion on the performance.

“I think the plane was pretty cool. I am a self-proclaimed animal rights activist, but she treated the dove well. Overall performance was decent,” said Alexander.
Speaking of a great performance, another captivating performance was from Tyler, The Creator. Let’s first start with his outfit. The statement piece of his outfit would definitely be his shoes. A collaboration between Converse x GOLF le FLEUR these simplistic two toned green shoes really pulled the all green outfit together. It may have been simple, but it was definitely great.
Junior Jakob Bailey explains why he likes the shoe collab.
“I like the minimalist design of his shoes. Green goes with his “Chromakopia” album color.” said Bailey.
His performance was a mix between his popular album “Chromakopia” and his newest one, “ Don’t Tap the Glass”. He started with his classic Green suit and face mask. Look later.
Fellow junior Pat Looney shares why he liked the performance.
“The car was dope, it connected to the storyline, which was supported by the music he sang. The outfits were good. He has his own style and isn’t afraid to show it,” said Looney.
Some watch the Grammy’s for the fashion, others for the music, but most times those two are connected. The fashion represents the artist’s beliefs, ideas, or emotion and finding the connection between them and their performances can make the night interesting. I enjoyed the Grammy’s this year and can’t wait to see it again in 365 days.
