Scheduling for the 2026-27 school year is quickly approaching. RCHS students will be meeting with their assigned guidance counselor to discuss what classes they need and would like to take. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing classes. To ensure that you’re choosing the best classes, it’s important to ask yourself the following questions: What diploma am I trying to graduate with? What credits are required for that diploma? What is my career plan for after high school? What education does that job require? You should also take into consideration the variety of classes RCHS offers.
Starting next school year the following new classes will be offered: Agribusiness Management, Foundations of Business and Marketing, Social Media Marketing, and Plumbing.
Agribusiness Management will be taught by Gwendolyn Gosney. The class is open to 11th and 12th graders.
Gosney explains the agribusiness management class.
“This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of agribusiness principles and prepares them for successful careers within the diverse agricultural industry. Students will develop essential knowledge, skills, and professional attributes necessary for employment in various agribusiness sectors,” Gosney said.
Graceon Whitesell will be taking on three new classes, Principles of Business and Marketing, Social Media Marketing, and Sports Marketing. Principles of Business and Marketing is open to all grade levels.
In the class students will learn about the basics of economics, trends in the market, business ethics and leadership, business career tactics, and professionalism. Social Media Marketing is also open to all grade levels. Students will learn about content creation, study of psychology behind content creation, and the data and analytics behind why people like videos. Sports Marketing is only for grade levels 10-12. Students will learn about branding and endorsements, the business of fan engagement in sporting events, and event management.
Unlike the other courses, Plumbing will not be located at RCHS. It will take place in the evening at Mountain Gateway Wilson Workforce Center in Buena Vista. Plumbing 1 is open to 11th and 12th graders and Plumbing 11 is only offered to seniors. The class will be instructed by a licensed plumber employed by MGCC. You can on
ly take the class if you have completed or are completing the NCCER course taught by Mr. Tuttle.
