Since 1995 when they first hit the dealerships in the United States, Toyota Tacomas have been a reliable choice mid size pickup truck. With modifiability, versatility, reliability, and style, the Tacoma can be personalized for anyone. This is beneficial for students when investing in a vehicle that will last them a long time, spending their money in exceptional value.
The V6 engine under the hood of all Tacomas has never failed customers in the long run. On average, the Tacoma engine lasts upwards of 30 years or 300,000 miles as a promise from Toyota. Those numbers are at standard maintenance, however with over the top attentiveness in your truck there is seamlessly no limit to how long these trucks can last.
Consumer Reports particularly score the 2013-2015 Tacoma a 5 out of 5 in reliability. In fact, many of the ratings for the compact pickup truck throughout the years have been phenomenal.
Nick Kurczewski, who is a senior multimedia content editor for Consumer Reports, also believes that Tacomas are incredibly good trucks.
“In the car world, the joke is that after the zombie apocalypse the only things to survive will be cockroaches and Tacomas,” Kurczewski said.
Junior JP Welsh continuously puts his trust in Toyota, having owned and driven these trucks for a long time.
“I’ve actually had two Tacoma’s, a 1989 and n
ow I have a 2013. The 89 was very reliable considering it had over 650,000 miles on it, and I just got the 13 recently and haven’t had any problems yet,” said Welsh.
Tacomas are also well known to be very modifiable, with new tires, suspension, and other miscellaneous modifications such as taillights. It is very common for T
acomas to have a lift in order to fit bigger tires. Without a lift, it is impossible to put bigger tires without there being rubbing.
Tacomas also perform great off-road with most models having a four wheel drive option. Tacomas can go virtually anywhere, especially when they are built specifically to go off roading. When Tacomas are built up, they also can go over landing.
Over landing is when you drive out to remote locations and camp. Some people even mount their tent in the bed of their truck on a platform. The reliability and durability of Tacomas make them the perfect truck for over landing.
Toyota Tacomas are overall the most reliable trucks due to how reliable and long lasting they can be if taken care of. I think that if somebody is looking for a midsize pickup to truly get their money for, Toyota is the way to go.

Best case stick with years up to 2015. Next best case 2016-2023. The 2023 is a huge downgrade in reliability and the end of the V6. Boat please don’t buy a new one
