On Feb. 1 at the 68th annual
, a pattern of advocacy against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) occurred during artist speeches. Grammy winners such as Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, and Olivia Dean spoke out with anti-ICE sentiments as they were giving their acceptance speeches.
Billie Eilish spoke out in support of immigrants facing hate while accepting her tenth Grammy.
“No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said.
At the 2026 Grammy, around 25 celebrities and artists sported pins that read “ICE OUT.” These celebrities included Justin and Hailey Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, and Joni Mitchell. Artists used these pins as a way to peacefully protest against the harm the organization ICE has been doing lately.
ICE was founded in 2003 with the goal of enforcing immigration laws in order to preserve the national security of the United States.
During the current Trump administration, ICE has received a significant increase in funding and a significant decrease in training.
In early 2026, ICE was the cause of at least eight deaths, including the death of Renee Nicole Good, who was shot on Jan. 7 in Minneapolis for blocking the way of ICE agents.
After the killing of Good, anti-ICE protests popped up all over the United States. People are using their right to the first amendment to peacefully resist against ICE. Although peaceful protest is legal and protected under the constitution, ICE agents have been violent against protesters.
The Grammys were a great example of people in positions of influence using their power to make a difference in a peaceful way.
