The Volleyball team battled East Rockingham Sept. 12. They swept the Eagles and continued their momentum as they defeated Fort Defiance the previous night. They were led by a strong performance from senior outside hitter Sophie Vaught and some key plays from freshman outside hitter Geneva Snyder.

The first set was a back and forth affair that eventually saw the Wildcats pull away with a 25-20 victory. Strong serves from senior middle blocker Maddie Dahl helped Rockbridge as they battled through some gritty plays by East Rockingham’s defenders.

The second and third set were similar to the first, as they were very close until Rockbridge pulled away. The second set finished with a 25-17 victory and the third set saw the Wildcats finish the sweep with a score of 25-20.

Vaught was excited about the teamwork that contributed to the win.

“Before the game, everyone was really focused and it showed on the court. Everyone was able to contribute to the sweep,” said Vaught.

The Wildcats now have a record of 13-1. The Wildcats will next be in action Sept. 21 at home against Spotswood.
