The varsity volleyball team continued their dominance as they defeated the William Monroe Dragons on Sept. 28. This was the first matchup between the two schools, as William Monroe is a new member to the Valley District. The game took place at home and the Wildcats won 3-0.

There was some uncertainty prior to the matchup, solely because there was no familiarity between the teams which is not the case with the rest of the district opponents. The Wildcats knew it was crucial to capture momentum immediately and they did just that, as they won the first set by a score 25-9.

Senior outside hitter Sophia Perlozzo had a strong game with lots of kills. She felt as if the team played well together and played with a lot of energy.

“The team played really well. We went out swinging with high energy and everyone played well and we had a good connection on the court,” said Perlozzo.

The Wildcats continued their strong play into the second and third set as they won by convincing scores of 25-15 and 25-10. This was a key win as it helped the Wildcats maintain their stronghold on first place in the Valley District.

The team now has a record of 13-1. Their next game will be Oct. 3 at Broadway. Be sure to show support for these ladies as they enter the stretch run of their season.
