The Wildcats traveled to Bridgewater to take on the Turner Ashby Knights Jan. 10. It was a key district matchup, as the teams vie for a spot in the District Tournament next month. The team was coming off of a tough loss to Spotswood and looking to rebound.

The game began with Junior forward Sam Ballstaedt hitting a transition three to kick off the scoring. Ballstaedt set the tone early and helped establish early momentum to open up a 22-11 lead for the visiting Wildcats.

The Knights used aggressive press defense and effective offense to claw back into the game. The teams traded baskets for much of the second half. The Wildcats shot 18-21 from the foul line, and this proved to be a difference maker in the 62-55 victory.

Junior guard Zane Ramsey thought that the Wildcats executed the game plan well.

“We were able to get the ball to our scorers and played hard, which got us the win. When we are able to limit turnovers and mistakes we really seem to play good together,” said Ramsey.

Senior guard Henry Lambert led the way with 27 points, while Senior center Milo Mulitalo and Ballstaedt each chipped in 12.

The Wildcats are now 2-11 and will take on William Monroe in a home battle Jan. 12.
