Marcy Carpenter is a new geometry and Algebra II teacher. She attended Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania, and has taught math across Connecticut, Germany, and Pennsylvania.

Carpenter came to Rockbridge because her husband is studying at Washington and Lee University Law School. She moved to the area last year, where she taught in Amherst County. She enjoys the Rockbridge area and is glad she has the opportunity to teach here. Carpenter plans on impacting her students by teaching in a creative way.

“We have dance floors for [a game called] ‘Dance Dance Transversals’, and we’re going to dance our way into learning,” said Carpenter.

Carpenter is hoping to think of new ways to encourage her students to want to learn in fun and new ways.

“It’s a fun way to get out of our seats and not just do worksheets throughout the whole year,” said Carpenter.
