On February 23, 2023, the new and upcoming band The Runarounds made their first appearance on season three, episode seven of the hit show “Outer Banks.” Two years later, the band is starring in the Amazon Prime show, “The Runarounds,” which is about five guys, Charlie (William Lipton), Neil (Axel Ellis), Bez (Zendé Murdock), Topher (Jeremy Yun), and Wyatt (Jesse Golliher), who just graduated high school and made a band.
Throughout this article there will be spoilers, so take care if you have not watched the show yet.
Partially non-fiction, the show incorporated pieces of each of the real band-members’ lives and personalities. This made the show seem much more realistic and nostalgic for viewers, with many watchers relating to the characters.

Another piece that adds to the show is the musical talent of the band members. The songs are quickly growing in popularity for their catchy and memorable quality.
Senior Annalee Penny watched the show and talks about her love for music.
“I’ve added a lot of songs to my everyday playlists. I absolutely want to go see them on tour now,” Penny said.
Penny certainly is not the only one who wants to see the band live, with The Minivan Tour, the band’s current tour along the east coast, being completely sold out.
The only critique that could really be made, though some could argue that it is not a bad thing, is how it feels like every character has their own side plot and backstory. Technically, the show mainly follows main character Charlie Cooper, but viewers do also get an in-depth look into the four other band members’ lives as well as those over other side characters. To some, this could be too much information for one season. However, to others, it is a great thing to get a taste of the other characters.
Overall, the show is a fun mix of good music, lively characters, and complex storyline. I would highly recommend “The Runarounds” to anyone looking for a fall show to binge watch.
