The ‘Cats’ girls’ basketball team (3-4) had a district competition against Waynesboro (4-5) on Dec. 15. The Lady ‘Cats never got it going during the game and ended up losing to the Little Giants by a final score of 26-60.

After never really getting it going in the game, second-year head coach Andy Coffey expresses how being a facilitator to the girls is a goal to have going through these types of games and improving from that.

“My goals for myself is, first, to be a student of the game, which means to watch and learn from every practice, and game,” said Coffey. “The second goal is, I want to show them commitment. I want them to understand I am in this for the long haul, through the good and bad.”

In their next game, the Lady ‘Cats will travel to Spotswood to face the Trailblazers in a district game on Dec. 19.

As a coach, Coffey has a goal for the girls going through losses like these to overcome and improve on in the next game.

“I want to make sure that they leave each and every game with positive memories and some life experiences,” said Coffey.
