The Wildcats traveled to Spotswood High School to take on the trail blazers Oct. 7. The Cat’s offense started off slow with their lone score in the first half coming off a blocked punt that Sophomore defensive end Clayton Irvine returned for his first varsity touchdown.

It was very thrilling, and all the excitement that all my teammates had for me was great.

The score was tied at six at halftime. In the second half, Senior running back Andreas Poindexter rushed for a touchdown to give the cats a 12-6 lead. But, this lead was short lived with the Trailblazers scoring on their next two drives to take a 12-19 lead. Senior running back Daronde Stores found the endzone to make the score 19-18 with two minutes left.  With less than a minute left on the clock, Spotswood’s quarterback connected with a receiver for a touchdown to give them a 20-25 lead, which would end up being the final score.

When asked what the team can improve on from the game, senior Braeden Hartbarger said, “We need to work on fixing the small mistakes and focusing on our individual assignments.”

This week the Cats will travel to Waynesboro, VA to take on the 0-6 Little Giants.
