Girls Soccer takes down the tribe

The RCHS girls soccer program took a trip to Fort Defiance Virginia to take on the Indians on Tuesday, March 21. The girls program was hungry for a win coming off a two game losing streak.

The game was slow moving as both teams were attacking and defending at similar paces. One team would pressure on offense while the other would shut it down with a strong back line. After the offensive was shut down the back line would then clear the ball all the way to the other teams attacking third, allowing for a push on the offensive from the other team.

There was a little more action in the second half. The cats pulled away with a goal in the 43rd minute by Sophomore Madelyn Jones. Jones said she was only able to do this with the connections from her teammates.

“The team is looking good this year, we have really good chemistry,” said Jones, “I am really proud of how far we have come.”

With hopes of more wins in the future, the Cats take on Stuarts Draft on March 30.

Nicolas Vargas is a first year journalism student with little experience in the journalism field. You could say THE Nicolas Vargas is a noob. Nicolas Vargas was told that this class would be helping the school with “new paper” whatever that is. Maybe by the end of the year he will have figured out what that is. If not, the interweb should be able to help him. This probably makes one wonder if Nicolas Vargas has a life? Well yes, yes he does. Outside of school Nicolas Vargas is the average teenager: tired, lazy and boring… Kidding! Nicolas Vargas enjoys spending every minute of his life doing something. “Laying around” is not in his vocabulary. Nicolas Vargas enjoys playing sports of all varieties and doing almost all activities that involve the great outdoors. The only time he chooses to be in the great expanse of his own home is when he is playing Fifa (soccer video game). Where he claims to be the best in the house, the key word here is “claims”. He chooses not to surrender his dignity to his younger brother. By now you have probably figured out a little bit about who Nicolas Vargas is. If you are so fortunate as to run into him at one point in your life asking “how’s the new paper going?”, by then he should give you his autograph.
