RCHS cheer team faces adversity at East Rock

This past Wednesday the wildcats cheer team had the opportunity to travel to East Rockingham High school to compete in a district practice competition. Unlike previous competitions the cheer team faced several deficits.

Three members of the wildcat team were out with injuries: Senior Heidi Schwarzmann, Senior Sarah Allen and Sophomore Addison Flint. This meant that the routine that the Wildcats had planned had to be adjusted. Junior Chelsey Hall stepped up and learned a new routine for the Wildcats. With Hall’s hard work the team was able to put up a good fight against the other teams at Rockingham. Spotswood High School came out on top winning the competition. Second place went to Wilson Memorial High School and third place was East Rockingham High School.

Although the cheer team did not place the way they had hoped, they will have a chance to redeem themselves at their next competition on Sept 28 at Spotswood High School.
