Jeremiah Jumps Ahead

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” causes reason for debate

Season two of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” was released July 14 on amazon prime, and there have been mixed opinions surrounding the debates between team Jeremiah and team Conrad.

The brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad, played by Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney. The daughter of their mom’s best friend, Belly played by Lola Tung have been as close as can be since they were babies. The boys’ mother, Rachel, also known as  “Beck,” always shared how Belly would end up with one of her sons.

As the show has gone on from season one to season two the love triangle has been very scattered, messy, and just has caused a lot of tension in between all the characters.

Her younger son Jeremiah has always been there for Belly. He cares very much about her, but a lot of fans say he only loves her now because he sees it as a “competition” with Conrad. Although they do try and win her over, it is obvious that Jeremiah has truly loved her since they were little.

Belly was always in love with Conrad meanwhile Conrad was never looking in her direction. They grew up and eventually Belly has grown and looks different. Conrad was not sure what he wanted and didn’t give her the attention until Jeremiah put his interest into Belly. This is when the love triangle fires up.

When they were little, Conrad tended to ignore Belly a lot, and even would use her just to see another girl. Conrad has also been constantly rude to the girl, specifically when he told her she should just go look in the mirror more. This statement hurt Belly, especially because she was only trying to look out for him. He also has a tendency to run away emotionally,  or become distant which makes Belly put everything in her own life on hold just to look out for him.

Conrad also took her to prom, but ended up hurting her as it becomes clear he  wasn’t even set on taking her in the first place. He was thinking about himself and he was simply  failing as a boyfriend.

Jeremiah has always treated her as a girlfriend, and has been there for her no matter how much Belly has hurt him. She looked out for only Conrad when their mother passed away, and completely brushed off Jeremiah. Through all of that, he still forgave her. Conrad lied to Belly multiple times and did not  mention the fact he pretty much forced  Jeremiah to accept that he  and Belly were together, when Jeremiah was obviously hung up on Belly. Jeremiah is very caring and puts others before himself. He was even Belly’s debutante ball dance partner because Conrad did not  feel like doing  it.

In the end, Jeremiah is the better option for Belly because he knows her in ways that no one else, including Conrad, knows her. He values her and tries to be the best version of himself for her. Jeremiah is the perfect fit for her, and if it comes down to a choice she should pick Jeremiah.
